My WordPress menu is weird. How do you tell if you have been hacked and what do I do to fix it? I have exported my blog and I haven’t clicked on any of the weird options (like the “mu”), but I am nervous.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
I have never been known for being very observant, in fact I rarely notice when my partner gets a haircut or has rearranged the lounge furniture. So it wasn’t unusual when he said, “how long ago did WordPress change the editor?” and I replied “huh, did it change?” Hmm… I am fairly sure (although not positive) that the editor was different yesterday than it is right now. I would notice a totally different interface, right?!
That does get me thinking about how big a change has to be for it to register. For me, I think it needs to alter my established habits. I notice when we are out of milk because I reach for it in the same spot every morning for my coffee and if my hand grabs air I have either got to go shopping or stop by Starbucks on my way to school. Using WordPress is not quite a habit yet, so changes to the environment don’t necessarily jump out at me (i.e. has it always had polls? has my blog always had an avatar?) I think this might be a good thing, though. I am not sure if the cause and effect is bi-directional, but maybe I can develop a habit by intentionally being more observant about it. What if I poke around WordPress more and try to notice what’s new, will being more familiar with the tools help me make blogging a regular habit?
Well, I may give it a go now because, dude, like where did the “publish” button go?
